Puppy Pick Policy

Santos Bretons Puppy Pick Policy

Our Policy gives priority to the dates the reservation deposits were received from each of our clients.  This sets a list in motion of who will get which place in the pick order of upcoming litters. Per our Purchase Agreement, you select a preferred gender.  We then form a list honoring both the dates reservation deposits were received and gender preference. Clients are given the option, if the gender of puppy they designated was not produced for their pick, to move their pick to a future litter. The same rules apply should someone need to make this choice. Puppy Pick Order is done by the date of deposit and by gender.  This ensures a higher pick for someone who has been waiting longer.

Puppy picks begin on the day the litter is 5 weeks of age.  Picks are done in the order determined by the dates reservation deposits were received, and by gender.  First picks for the male and female genders need to be made by 7:00 p.m. on the date the litter is 5 weeks of age. Following picks will be notified when the pick ahead of them has been made and have until 7:00 p.m. the next day to make their pick.

Picks must be made in a timely manner.  If you are having difficulty choosing, we are here to assist you to ensure you meet your selection deadline.  It is your responsibility to be available to make your pick in a timely manner. In the rare case that someone is not available or timely, we reserve the right to move you to the last pick position for your chosen gender. In that case you would agree to forfeit your prior selection priority.

At this age mostly all you can determine is basic coloration, sex and relative size. What you see in videos or if you come to visit in person can be just a snippet of activity or non-activity. This may not reflect the total picture into the pups temperament and activity level. As the breeder who is familiar with this breed and has handled and cared for this litter since birth, we are able to give you insight into the minor differences in each pup.

Our breeding stock has been carefully screened for proper temperament. We believe that each pup should have the potential, based on its breeding, to become a good citizen and capable gun dog. That said, you are investing in the breeding / genetics of this litter more so than just choosing a particular pup.

The environment you raise your pup in will have a great impact on its development and adult temperament.

We are happy to give you insight and support in helping you choose a pup.
